We are an Anglican religious community of women in Oxford
We have an active ministry upheld and enriched by prayer. Our aim is to be channels of God’s love, in whatever way we believe the Holy Spirit is leading us, helping those who are in need by reason of age, health or social circumstance.
Founded in London in 1851, our work over the years and in four continents has taken many forms
Our grounds provide an oasis in an area of Oxford where there is much poverty and deprivation. Set in the grounds are St John’s Home, a residential home for elderly people, and Helen and Douglas House, hospices for children and young people with life limiting conditions. Across the road is The Porch, a day centre offering support for the homeless and vulnerably housed.
